Pedro Aguilar Guerrero June 5, 1948 – March 3, 2021 It is with great love and privilege that his children and grandchildren are writing Pedro Aguilar’s biography. Pedro “Dad” Aguilar Guerrero passed to be with the Lord on March 3, 2021 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. Pedro Aguilar Guerrero was born in Cotija de la Paz, Michoacán, Mexico in June 5, 1948. He was fourteen years old when he migrated to the United States in search for a better life. Through his travels, he arrived at Chicago Heights, Illinois where he met his future wife of thirty-two years, Mrs. Magdalena Aguilar Garza “Mom”. He is survived by his children and their (spouses): Diana Pacheco, Pedro Aguilar Jr. (Dolores Aguilar), Juan Aguilar (Miriam Aguilar), Alex Aguilar (Daena Aguilar), Cinthia Aguilar Sandoval (Arturo Sandoval), and Pablo Aguilar (Coral Aguilar). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Hiram Pacheco, Peter Aguilar, Victor Aguilar, Sky Von Glan Aguilar, Star Aguilar, Sidney Aguilar, Pedro Aguilar III, Raymond Aguilar, Juan Aguilar Jr., Roberto Lopez, Luis Lopez, Victor Lopez, Andrea Aguilar, Alexandro Aguilar, Sarahi Aguilar, Pablo Aguilar, Andres Aguilar, Alpha Sandoval, Magdalena Sandoval, Galilea Aguilar, and great-grandchildren Noah Aguilar, and Skyler Aguilar. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. -Psalm 1: 1-3 Work History: Pedro Aguilar worked in various jobs early on, ranging from restaurant dish-washer and cabinet-maker, to an independent construction contractor. In 1974, Pedro brought his family back to Brownsville, Texas. Shortly after, he began working at Marathon LeTourneau Company, a ship production plant in the Port of Brownsville, where he got his first taste in the oil field industry. He worked at Marathon for eight years where he was able to gain his supervisor’s respect and received a promotion within his department. He was known as the “policia” or police because he was dedicated to his job and the improvement of the company. Years later, the Marathon plant was shut down, so Pedro decided to move his family to Herford, Texas, where he became a skilled butcher in an abattoir. Because of his many skills, he was offered an opportunity to build a restaurant in Amarillo, Texas. (Luminarios of Texas Restaurant). Always in search for better opportunities for his family, Pedro moved to the state of Tennessee where he became a caretaker for a botanical nursery. While working there, opportunity arose once more, and his carpentry skills were needed. He built three beautiful houses, and a log cabin made entirely of cedar. There he showed his family the importance and the value of work. Finally, in 1989, Pedro moved his family back to Brownsville, Texas, once more, and returned to work at the Port of Brownsville for a new company, Amfels, where he worked until retirement in December of 2013. Ministry Life: Pedro’s ministry began in 2004 when his wife passed away due to an illness. Pedro was able to unite his family like never before and he was able to bring everyone of his children and his grandchildren (living in Brownsville) to the feet of Christ. Pedro, at his mature age of 65, began attending IDP The City Church in 2013 where he was able to obtain his Chaplaincy in 2014 and complete his 2 -year bible institute certificate. Pedro became an elder at IDP TCC and served along his family in ministry for the duration of his life. He served in Peniel since 2014 where he made the most impact and was able to establish great relationships with people from around the United States and Mexico. His personal ministry included of sending daily bible verses to hundreds of newly converted Christians and struggling men and women. These daily messages became a staple for many who saw encouragement and faith through him. Pedro also served for two years at the Bayview Detention Center, ministering through prayer and intercession. His Legacy: Pedro became every person’s “Dad”. Churchgoers, family, friends, and even acquaintances, saw Pedro as their grandfather. His personality was captivating and he became the grandpa of every child who met him. His love did not stop there; he was a devoted rancher and farmer. He loved his cows, and donkeys and horse. He loved nature and his plants. He plowed his fields and planted seeds, and everything he planted gave him fruit. He had that magic touch and we know that was God’s grace on him. He taught us so much about everything. He was the true meaning of ‘Jack of all trades’. We will remember Dad for his awesome sense of humor, his cooking skills and iconic hot salsas, the way that he was determined for people to try unfamiliar foods by pressing them against their lips and saying “pruebalo”, his endless hospitality and his love for others. Dad really did fulfill Jesus’s second commandment to love thy neighbors. We will miss you greatly, but most of all, we will remember you forever. We love you Dad! Visitation will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021, from 5 p.m., until 9 p.m., with a prayer service to begin at 7 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 9, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd., Brownsville, TX 78526. Due to current COVID restrictions, this establishment will follow the 75% occupancy, limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart.
