Obituary of Sergio "Serg" J. Gutierrez
Please share a memory of Sergio to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In celebration of life for our dearly beloved son, grandson, brother and loving father, Sergio. He’s in the arms of our Almighty Lord Jesus Christ. Remembered always as a strong stand tall man with the warmest and biggest heart of gold. Sergio’s personality was one of the rarest of kind, which made him exactly the person to remember.
Born on January 16, 1976, to mom and dad Diana and Javier. Being the first child to both and bringing so much joy and life to the small family. My first born was something so new to me, I was a young mother so everything was first experience for us. Sergio was a good baby, not a crying or sicky only when he was hungry. At two years old we moved into our home where I was blessed at having a “nana” as a neighbor, Mrs Julia Nilo, he loved her dearly. She taught him how to sing “Mi Piquito de Oro” all day, eat sopitas not bottle, and how to water the plants and not his pamper. She was a blessing. He was also a St Theresa (Marinas R. Class) Eva Quesada was his teacher. As further school years came and went, so did Sergio. Mijo got to travel to Alaska to visit his Aunt Linda & Uncle Alvaro, Claudine & Jose for 1 yr, when he realized he left behind someone he truly loved, Melissa, who later became his wife, three years into their marriage they made me a grandma to Jaydin J Gutierrez, who’s now 20 yrs of age.Sergio has always been my bodyguard, always close, sometimes absent but close by. Big hearted, loved crazy music but that was my boy, after all he was a ‘70’s baby. By the Grace of God, I stood by his side as he walked thru the gates of Heaven. I love you my son. - Diana
Sergio, 3 years old, waiting patiently for his first and only brother, Orlando. “Growing up with Sergio was always an adventure. Not knowing what trouble we were going to get into”. Being the leader of the pack, which is what I saw him as, was the best! Enjoying everyday with Sergio along with all our friends growing up in La Palma, playing sports, riding our bikes and hanging out. What else can a little brother wake up each morning and look forward to spending the day with his big brother. All through our schools years, many knew me as Serg’s brother. As proud as I was then I am still proud of being his brother. He watched me grow up and go through chapters of life and I knowing he was right there beside me catching me, picking me up and watch me go again and again. - Orlando
Sergio and I met our senior year at the high school library. The first thing I noticed about him were his eyes and his kind smile. We were both very shy and quiet at first but then discovered we had the same love of rock music and that was all we would talk about. He had a funny, weird, crazy living on the edge sense of humor. He loved fast cars and enjoyed racing his green Ford Mustang. He had a heavy foot and had the need for speed. We became the best of friends who fell in love and were soon to be married. Our love for one another was so great that we decided to share it and plan for a child. The result was a beautiful baby boy whom we named Jaydin Javier Gutierrez. Sergio was so happy and proud to he a dad and know that his name and legacy would carry on. He was a great dad who enjoyed spending his free time with his son and teaching him to be a strong loving caring person.
Fast forward 20 years, his son is almost a split image of his dad both physically and mentally whether he realizes that or not. Sense of humor and all. Looking at Jaydin today his fashion appearance resembles that of his dad to the "T" when he was the same age. Sergio's pride and joys, summed up in a nutshell, first his son, his dogs, his job and last but not least his beard and mustache. He was loved by everyone and will greatly be missed. It is now up to his son to look foward and use the tools his dad taught him and become the man he needs to be in order to succeed in life. -Melissa Hernandez
My dad was the greatest dad ever. Being both strict and really loving and caring. Always wanting to see me and doing all he can for me. he was a strong role model showing his most strongest qualities all the time. always instilling in me to have the drive, want, and motivation to earn the great things in life to work hard for everything I have because it means all that much better to know that you worked hard for what you have. to always stay strong minded especially when life throws hard things your way. me always wanting to follow in his footsteps to have his work ethic and his drive. he loved sitting at home watching movies and eating raising canes. throwing passes with the football. playing with the dogs. Loved to barbecue and watch football outside. Those are just a few of the things we loved doing together. - Jaydin Gutierrez
