SAN BENITO, TX. — Benita M. Alvarez 85 of San Benito, Texas passed away on October 2, 2007 at a local nursing center early in the afternoon. She was a resident of San Benito, Texas since May of 1969 and was also a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Mrs. Alvarez was preceded in death by her husband, Trindad Alvarez. She is survived by her daughter Francisca A. (Gustavo) Gonzalez, San Benito, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Jose Luis (Amanda) Lopez, Jr., Rio Hondo, Texas, Raul T. (Amy) Lopez, Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Gustavo Gonzalez, Jr., San Benito, Texas, Isabel C. Gonzalez, San Benito, Texas and Marcos A. (Ailsa) Gonzalez, Wilmington, NC; 2 great grandchildren, Aliceson Lopez & Jose Luis Lopez, III and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jose Luis Lopez, Jr., Raul T. Lopez, Gustavo Gonzalez, Jr., Isabel C. Gonzalez, Gustavo Gonzalez, Sr., and Leo Ruiz. Visitation will be from 10 am to 9 pm with a rosary at 7 pm on Thursday, October 4, 2007, Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 5, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church with interment to follow at Ashland Cemetery in Harlingen, Texas.
