Anna Maria Lopez, 76, of Rio Hondo, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Anna was born in Santa Monica, Tx. to Mauricio and Maria Aurora Lopez on October 6th 1944. She attended Rio Hondo high school and graduated in May of 1964. Early in her career she worked as a school secretary for the Rio Hondo Independent School District, then went on to work with the City of Rio Hondo where she retired after numerous years of service. She was a woman of great faith who enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends, but most of all she cherished her time spent making memories with her family, especially her grandkids who she dearly loved. She lived a life of selfless service, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her love was the embodiment of how Christ calls us to love one another. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mauricio Sr. and Maria Aurora Lopez; two sisters: Rafaela Plata and Estrella Montemayor; and two brothers: Mauricio Lopez Jr. and Raul Lopez. Anna is survived by her husband Rogelio Rivera Lopez; three sons: Rogelio (Susana) Lopez Jr., Jaime (Molly) Lopez, and Xavier (Lorena Leija) Lopez; five grandchildren: Rogelio Lopez III, Lanette Lopez, Jaime Lopez Jr., Matthew James Lopez, and Ellyanah Karina Lopez; and one brother Gregorio (Amelia) Lopez. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Mary Jo.
