Maria S. Perez, 87 of San Benito, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was married to Israel F. Perez (Riley). Together, they had four daughters and four sons. She was a loving, caring, giving mother and strong woman. She was short but mighty. She would always place her children first before anything or anyone. She was always there by their side holding their hand as they each crossed their own tumultuous path without them not knowing that she was always their one true friend. She taught her children to love and respect others as if they were family by the way she loved and respected her extended family and friends. She was always ready to feed any visitor and would not take ‘no’ for an answer. She was a very talented woman. Her love of baking, cooking, crafting and ingenuity was passed down to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren as if they were her own. She taught them to love each other and be loyal as brothers and sisters. To be strong and to always have faith in God. She is their AMA and will forever have a place in their hearts. She is preceded in death by her husband, Israel F. Perez, parents, Eusebio and Eugenia Ysaguirre Silva; and brothers, Lupe Silva, Calixto Silva; and sister Carmen Trevino. She is survived by her daughters, Irasema (Iris) Garcia (Juan Garcia), Diana Perez, Linda Perez, Elizabeth Perez; sons, Jose (Joe) Perez, Israel (Elizabeth) Perez Jr., Fred (Mary) Perez, and Leroy Perez; eleven grandchildren, Pablo Uribe, Michelle Uribe Murphy, Israel Perez III, Richard Mares, Jonathan Perez, Ray Perez, Fred Perez, Jr., Ashley Mares Bullock, Valarie Perez, Jacob Perez, Lindsey Perez; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will held on Monday, December 28, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A graveside prayer service and internment will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020, at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
