Port Isabel, TX - Chale G. Galvan, 54, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away Saturday, April 07, 2007 at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Tx.
He was preceded in death by his son, Carlos Guillermo Galvan, Jr.; Father, Santana S. Galvan Sr.
Chale was a lifetime residence of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church of Port Isabel. He was employed by the Laguna Madre Water District for 31 years and retired in 2005. He was known to many as "The Huesero" in the Laguna Madre Area and the surrounding communities.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Angelica (Lauro Martinez) Galvan and Myra (Mauro Antonio Flores) Galvan both of Port Isabel. 6 grandchildren; Mother, Catarina P. Galvan of Port Isabel; 2 Brothers, Santana (Olga) P. Galvan Jr. of Port Isabel and Roberto (Gracie) Galvan of Brownsville; 2 Sisters, Alma (Butch) Mock and Maria Luisa (Pete) Garcia both of Port Isabel; Numerous nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held today April 09, 2007 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and a Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday April 10, 2007 at Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church with Father Gerry Barrett officiating. Cremation will follow to Sacred Park Crematorium.
Pallbearers will be Sidney Mock, Bobby Galvan, Joseph Galvan, Pete Garcia III, Santana Galvan III, Thomas Garcia, and Armando Garcia. Honorary Pallbearers, Rudy Garcia, Juanio Fernandez, Gencho Buituireda, Joe Henry Garcia, Lawrence Galvan, Juan Antonio Ortiz, Gualberto "Wally" Gonzalez and Frank Ortiz.
The Galvan Family extends a special thanks to Dr. Juan M. Garcia, Dr. Jorge Flores, Harlingen Medical Center Hospital, I.C.U. Staff, Leslie Zammitt, R.N., Velma Eads, S.N., UTB, and Emy Sullivan, R.N.
