Ruby Holland Garcia, 93, of Port Isabel, Texas, entered into eternal rest on December 8, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Ruby was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a devoted Catholic. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. Ruby had an interest and passion for helping youth, as she worked for Head Start for many years and went on to open up her own daycare. She was committed to her children and grandchildren volunteered many years with the PIISD concession stands, Drill Team, and other extra- curricular activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mariano Holland and Refugia Pérez Holland; a daughter, Ana Cora Garcia; a son, Joe Henry Garcia; her sisters, Beatrice Holland Floyd, Magdalena Holland Garcia, Maria del Refugia Holland Guzman, Josephine Holland Lubbeck and Enriqueta Holland Barrera; her brothers, Richard Holland and Mariano Holland.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 72 years, Jose Sosa Garcia; three sons, Eduardo (Esmeralda) Garcia, Noe (Yolanda) Garcia and Felix (Teresa Gail Appleton) Garcia; two daughters, Mary Ruby Gonzalez and Velma (Bob) Sandlin; 14 grandchildren, Eddie Garcia, Jr., Eric Garcia, Christopher Garcia, Derick Garcia, Andre O. Garcia, Monica L. Navarijo, Joseph G. Gonzalez, Michael A. Gonzalez, Rebekah “Bekah” Sandlin, Kevin Garcia, Byanka Garcia, Joe Henry Garcia, Jr., Izick R. Garcia and Richard Lee Garcia; 31 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Camila Holland Follmer; brothers, José Roberto Holland and Ernest William Holland; and daughter-in-law Hilda Cisneros Garcia .
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020, from 5 p.m., until 9 p.m., with the recitation of the holy rosary to be held at 7 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, at Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church with cremation to follow.
Honored to be serving as pallbearers will be Derick Garcia, Joe Henry Garcia, Jr., Izick Garcia, Richard Garcia, Kevin Garcia and Ray Guerrero
