Obituary of Ena T. Gonzalez
Please share a memory of Ena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ena T. Gonzalez, 74, of Port Isabel, who struggled with Lupus for several years, lost her battle with the disease on December 8, 2020.
Ena was born in the Stann Creek Valley in Belize. She grew up on an orchard farm with her parents and eight siblings. She married Santiago “Puchin” Gonzalez on February 24, 1968. She was a loving and kind mother to Perla, Serafina, Becky, and Andrea. She equally loved her nephews and nieces, whom she treated no differently than her girls. She loved her grandchildren unconditionally.
Ena was a life- long Catholic who was dedicated to her church. She volunteered on Monday’s to count church collections, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and a lector at weekday masses.
She was the type of person who welcomed everyone in her home. She always had food ready at the table. Family and friends looked forward to eating many of her delicious Belizean dishes.
She was preceded in death by parents, Alejo and Aurelia Perera; two brothers, Julio J. Perera and O. P. Perera; and a sister, Marina Hulse.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, Santiago Gonzalez; four daughters, Perla (Daniel) Torres, Serafina Gonzalez, Rebecca (Tanya) Gonzalez, and Andrea (German) Flores; siblings, Francisca Anderson, Delia Usher, Isabela Orio, Isidra (Michael Hancock), and Maria (Robert) Pinkerton, Jr.; sister-in-law, Solangel Perera; grandchildren, Christian D. Torres, Gabriela A. Torres, Bianca I. Flores, Andrew S. Flores and Ethan Z. Manning-Gonzalez; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 19, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with interment to follow at the Port Isabel City Cemetery.
