My deepest condolences to Leonel's family. My heart goes out to his daughter Laura and her family and to his son Leo and his family. I have fond memories of the many years that we were neighbors in Brownsville where our children grew up. Sending prayers for comfort, strength and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. Nuestro mas sentido pesame. Paticipamos con profundo dolor. Mi esposa, Norma Martinez Warner, es pariente de Leo, por ser integrante de la familia Champion. LEO patrocinaba las reuniones de 《Los Tahures》 alla en su casa con hospedaje y amabilidad. Jugabamos barajas por edades y Leo se metio con ganas y mucha habilidad. Nos ofrecia hasta cenas cuando estabamos jugando en su casa. Cuando era Leo el secre a los juezes federales, siempe me ayudaba con los procesos y los expedientes. Servia como Comisionado Municipal como un servicio al publico. Patrocino su campania((no hay tilde en esta maquina) de su propria bolsa para evitar aun ninguna sugerencia de algun conflicto de intereses. Lo echamos de menos a un amigo, a un sirviente al publico. Leonel and I went to school together and when we got together for reunions I enjoyed having him around. He was truly a wonderful and great man and will be greatly missed. He may be gone, but he will live forever in the hearts of his family and classmates. Rest in Peace Leonel. Dolores Garza Fritz, class of 1961!!

Our deepest condolences to you Loly, Yoli, and Ernie (Neto) and to Leo's precious children, Leo, Jr. and Laura, and their families. Leo, my primo, loved going to our humble home when he was with the Brownsville PD to eat fresh homemade flour tortillas, fresh beans, and whatever else we had available that my mom, who was his aunt Tia Lala, would cook for him. My mom cooked very delicious, and Leo loved her cooking. We enjoyed having him eat with us. I too, like my Primo Leo, miss all of the gatherings with all of the Primos and aunts and uncles, and Ernie playing guitar and my dad the accordion. Those were very special times. Father in the Name of Jesus Christ comfort my Primos, Leo's children, and their families through your Holy Spirit during this difficult time. Make it easy for them, the way only you can. Lord wrap your arms around them and let them feel your love and know how much you love them. I am so happy that Leo received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and that he is in the presence of the Lord enjoying himself. Leo looks so handsome in this photo, but then he always looked very handsome. God Bless you All Abundantly!! Lots of hugs and love from your Prima Lulu a/k/a Lali.
