Obituary of Silvia E. Garcia Rivas

Silvia Enedina Garcia Rivas was born and raised in Mexico in the state of Tamaulipas. She lived in a small historical town known as El Soliseño.
In the late 1970's she moved to Texas with her husband Gonzalo Garcia Cavazos and their 5 children.
She lived in Mercedes, Texas with her father Domingo Rivas. Later, she and her family moved to La Feria, Texas and then moved to Los Fresnos, Texas where she lived the rest of her life.
She worked for the Los Fresnos school district as a member of the cafeteria staff where she made life-long friends. She worked there for approximately 27 years, survived breast cancer in 2006, and then retired in 2007, mainly to take care of her sick husband who passed away in April 2012.
On November 16, 2020 she departed this life to go meet our Heavenly Father and to meet up with her late husband.
She is survived by 5 children: Gonzalo Arturo and wife Mary, Carlos Alberto, Gabriela, Claudia and husband Andy Lewis, and Zoraida Jenny and husband Derek Thompson.
She has 10 grandchildren: Mario Arturo Garcia, Elizabeth Garcia, Jessica Lyzette Garcia, Koraiima Ledezma, Leah Lewis, Cassie Lewis, Derek Miguel Thompson, Amber Thompson, Shanon Thompson, and Jonathan Thompson.
She has 6 great grandchildren: Eva Lynn Garcia,Angel Jaden Garcia, Addalynn Faith Garcia, Amberlee Hope Garcia, Lyra Destiny Furrh and Hunter Chase Furrh.
She is also survived by the Rivas Family, step mother Maria Natividad, and 14 brothers and sisters: Fransica fca Nora Hilda, Baldermina, Efren, Evangelina, Elvia, Heriberto, Domingo Jr, Corina, Dora, Joel, Linda San Juanita, Guadalupe, Gorge, and Rodolfo.
Silvia will be remembered as a compassionate woman with kindness and love in her heart, and for that beautiful smile that would touch your soul. She was always humble and had a certain touch of class about her. She will be dearly missed.

A 2:00 p.m. graveside will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Los Cuates Cemetery in Los Fresnos, Texas.
Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart. All individuals must wear face coverings or masks. (May include bandanas or sewn or cloth face coverings).
