Obituary of Graciela L. Guzman

Please share a memory of Graciela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gracie was born November 14, 1954, the eldest of 3 children. On September 24, 2020 she received her place in heaven. Gracie was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mom, and grandmother. Gracie was the heart and soul of her family. In the words of her grandkids she is the “Bestest cook ever!” Mom made the best food. From making potato and egg for the grandkids to the best rice, beans, and carne guisada, she did It all. Any time we gathered the question always was, “Is Gracie making the rice?” Gracie was the most selfless person in the world. She would drop anything she was doing to help her family. She spent countless days and nights in the hospital just to be by our side and for us to not be alone. If she wasn’t allowed to stay (which made her mad) she made sure to bring everything we needed to be comfortable, from blankets, snacks, and anything we needed to pray and know that God was with us. Mom was always afraid to drive with the grandkids because God forbid she got in an accident and something happen to them (not worried bout herself). I called Mom several times from work with a migraine and I couldn’t see, I told her I would figure out how to get home because she had the kids and before I could hang up the phone she had everyone in the car and on her way. I remember Mom always ready to go in the middle of the night when I called to say it was time to go and one of her grandkids was ready to enter this world. If Dad didn’t get ready fast enough well he stayed behind because she wasn’t going to miss it. Gracie began working as a teacher’s aide before marrying her husband Wence and starting their family. Career changes came and went, but she always left her impression on everyone she met. She was always teaching whether at work or at home. She taught us the importance of family and faith, the importance of loyalty and respect, and most importantly LOVE. As hard as Mom was on us (and I’m sure on her younger brothers too) we never felt anything but LOVE. The love she had for all 8 of her grandkids was indescribable. If you go through her phone all you will find is pictures of them. Mom learned how to screenshot so if we did not send them to her she made it a point to get it herself, you never know who she would run into and needed to brag about them. Words cannot express enough how deeply she will be missed, but the Lord needed her and called her to begin eternal life. Preceded in death by parents Gabriel and Esperanza Lugo. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Wenceslao A. Guzman Sr; her 3 children Wenceslao A. (Brenda) Guzman Jr, Lee Roy (Susie) Guzman, and Amanda L. (Christopher) Salinas; 8 grandchildren Amber Nicole, Victoria Hope, Dayna Lee, D’Marcus Roy, Deleni Sky, Christopher Michael, Matthew James, and Gabriella Hope; 2 brothers Gabriel (Veronica) Lugo Jr and Eloy (Dina) Lugo; and many loved ones. Honored to serve as pallbearers: Wenceslao A. Guzman Jr, Lee Roy Guzman, D’Marcus Roy Guzman, Christopher Michael Salinas, Christopher Salinas, Gabriel Lugo IV, Justin W. Cooley and honorary Matthew James Salinas.
