Benita Barrera, 77, of Los Fresnos, Texas, entered into eternal rest on May 6, 2012. She was a loving wife and mother who loved her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed gardening. Her laughter will be missed. She is preceded in death by her father, Margarito Cordero, her mother, Alifonsa Gonzalez; and grandson, Aaron Yánez. Benita is survived by her spouse, Nicolas Barrera; her children: Juanita (Juan Jose) Yánez, Nicolas (Rosa) Barrera Jr, Maria Guadalupe (Francisco) Garza, Elizabeth (Hector) Garcia, and Antonio (Amelia) Pintor, all of Los Fresnos, Texas; seven grandchildren: Isaac Yánez of Hawaii, David Garza, Patsy Garza, Christopher Garza, America Garcia, all of Los Fresnos, Texas, Nicolas Barrera III of Austin, Texas, Jessica Barrera of Dallas, Texas, and Erik Rodriguez of Los Fresnos, Texas. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Mass of Resurrection will be held on, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos. Committal service will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito. Serving as pallbearers are: David Garza, Chris Garza, Erik Rodriguez, Nicky Barrera III, Homero Pintor, and Antonio Pintor.
