Rio Hondo - Hilario "Lalo" Lopez, Sr., 80, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. Hilario Lopez was born on March 16, 1927 to his loving parents, Leonides and Martina Reyes Lopez. He was a respected native and lifetime resident of Rio Hondo. Hilario attended St. Helen Catholic Church, he was a Veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army Air Force. Mr. Lopez was to his family an outstanding, exceptional husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonides and Martina Reyes Lopez, brothers, sisters, and 1st wife, Leonila Escamilla Lopez. Hilario is survived by his wife of 28 years, Irene Lopez, 4 daughters, Beatris (Jose Antonio) Lozano of Rio Hondo; Dalia (Tomas) Pineda of Garland, Texas; Sandra (Gonzalo) Gonzalez of Mesquite, Texas; and Ida Gloria (Angel, Sr.) Romero of Harlingen, Texas; 2 sons, Hilario (Teresa) Lopez, Jr. of Rio Hondo; and Gregorio (Oralia) Lopez of Royse City, Texas; 1 sister, Trinidad Pina of Donna, Texas; 1 brother, Cristobal Lopez of Brownsville, Texas; 29 grandchildren, 9 great - grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held Saturday, April 7, 2007 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. and Sunday, April 8, 2007 from 2:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Eulogy at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Rio Hondo, interment will follow to Las Yescas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerardo Lozano, Angel Romero, Jr., David Romero, Gonzalo Gonzalez, Jr., Pedro Hilario Martinez, G. Seth Lopez, H. Luke Lopez, and Ronald Saldivar.
