Gilbert Guajardo, 63, of Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away on September 17th. Gilbert grew up in Los Fresnos and graduated from Los Fresnos High School. He spent many of his younger years farming fields with his siblings and father and went on to become a utility contractor for the remainder of his working years. He was a dedicated and hard-working man who instilled the value of a hard day’s work in both his sons, who he helped raise with Alicia Guajardo. He enjoyed a good afternoon sitting on his back porch cracking jokes and telling stories, many of which continue to be repeated and enjoyed by family and friends today. He was known in his community for his continued efforts as a volunteer with St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, The Lion’s Club and Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee, but known to his family for his willingness to lend a helping hand to whomever and whenever. Aside from being survived by his two sons Joe and Anthony, Gilbert also leaves behind a mother Maria C. Guajardo; sisters Dora Lopez, Rosa Caraveo, Cynthia and Mage Guajardo; grandchildren Julian, Cristian, Anthony Jr., Ariana and Mia Guajardo. Viewing will commence Monday, September 21, 2020 from 11:00AM – 2:30PM at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito followed by the Service and Burial at 3:00pm at Los Cuates Cemetery.
