Manuel “El Avion” Hinojosa Jr, 71 of Port Isabel, Texas, entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. Manuel “El Avion” was a native and lifetime resident of Port Isabel. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and best friend. A man who dedicated his life to his family and a fighter in everything he did. He was a happy, generous, and loving man. Manuel was in the shrimp industry since he was 12 years old and later became a Captain for thirty-two years. He retired in 1992 and worked at Sunchase IV for twenty years. Manuel was deeply loved and will be extremely missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him. He is preceded in death by his father; Manuel Hinojosa Sr.; mother: Maria Altagracia Garza Hinojosa; and two sisters; Rita (+Manuel) Hinojosa Saldivar and Norma Alma Hinojosa; 2 nieces and 1 nephew. Manuel is survived by his loving wife of 50 yrs; Maria Del Carmen Hinojosa; children: Manuel Hinojosa III, Ivonne Hinojosa-Fuentes (Juan), Vanessa Hinojosa-Atkinson (Jose) and Immanuel Hinojosa: grandchildren; Samantha Lauren Martinez (Esteban), Taylor Marie Hinojosa, Joseph Ian Torres and Cash Kai Atkinson; great-grandchildren; Steffan Jett Martinez and Samuel Jase Martinez as well as his three sisters; Mauricia H. Martinez (Mariano), Rosalinda H. Calvillo (+Pedro) and Sylvia Hinojosa Camacho (Bernardo) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart.All individuals must wear face coverings or masks. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, Texas with a burial followed to Port Isabel City Cemetery in Port Isabel, Texas.
