Porfirio Saldaña, 88, passed away on August 19, 2020. Porfirio Saldaña was a very humble, hardworking, loving, and caring man. He was a brother, uncle, father, grandpa, great grandpa, and great-great grandpa . He was born on February 26, 1932 in San Benito, Tx. His childhood years were in La Union, Tamaulipas, Mexico. His parents were Juan Saldaña and Leya Saldaña Izaguiree. He was the oldest of eight siblings. He had four sisters and three brothers. Audelia Saldaña, Cruz Saldaña, Enrique Saldaña, Dominga Saldaña, Juana Saldaña, Heramso Saldaña, and Belen Saldaña. At a very young age he came to San Benito, where he met his wife Martina Saldaña. They were married well over fifty plus years. They had five children together Alicia Compean, Ismael Saldaña, Rosa Martinez, Porfirio Saldaña Jr., and Norma Saldaña. He had spent many years enduring hard labor with his family, making them gain experience in what hard work was truly about. He spent most of his life in San Benito where he raised all five of his children. He enjoyed working on his ranch, he used to call it "The Saldaña Ranch", which was his pride and joy for many generations to experience his hard work and dedication. He also had numerous grandchildren that were his pride and joy a total of eighteen grandchildren Tonya Saldaña, Lynda Saldaña, Ismael Saldaña, Graciela Saldaña, Maria Hernandez, Rolando Saldaña, Criselda Saldaña, Robert Cabrera, Roy Cabrera, Raymond Cabrera, Eleazar Cabrera, Veronica Martinez, Ernesto Martinez, Isabella Compean, Michelle Saldaña, Leya Saldaña, Porfirio Saldaña [3rd ], Elysaa Saldaña . He also had thirty-four great grandchildren Rolando Gomez, Juan A. Gomez, Yanelly V. Lopez, Amandaly D. Lopez, Delilah F. Martinez, Joaquin I. G. Gutierrez, Roman Saldaña, Mia Saldaña, Ava Saldaña, Rolando Lucio Jr., Vivianna Lucio, Aaron Lucio, Narcizo Hernandez Jr., Josylin Y. Hernandez, Landon D. Hernandez, Yesenia R. Hernandez, Rigoberto Sanchez, Ronaldo Sanchez, Lorenzo Sanchez, Aiden R. Cabrera, Josiah A. Cabrera, Analise Cabrera, Alicia L. Rodriguez, Christopher Y. Zepeda, Delbert A. Wendy the fifth, Haven E. Yanez, Christian A. Zarco, Carlos A. Zarco , Penelope R. Saldaña, Emery G. Saldaña, Izak M. Garcia, Lilah S. Garcia, Ernesto M. Vasquez, and Damian L. Vasquez. He also had the blessing of having eight great-great grandchildren Dreydon K. Gomez, Jershiah L. Sauceda, Houston K. Gomez, Kiara R. Gomez, Aries L. Saldaña Edmond, Ailani C. Saldaña Edmond, Acelyn J. Saldaña Edmond, Elania Lucio. He will be greatly missed by all his friends, family, children, grandchildren , and great-great grandchildren. May you rest easily Welo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 5:00 p.m.to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A chapel service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart. All individuals must wear face coverings or masks. (may include bandanas or sewn or cloth face coverings).
