Jose T. Mesa JR. (Joe), of San Benito, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 21st at the age of seventy seven. Jose was born on September 6, 1942 in Big Wells, Texas to Jose Sr. and Herminia Mesa. On January 6, 1961 he married to Alicia Sauceda in San Benito, Texas. They resided in Arlington Heights, Illinois for 29 years. Jose established Mesa Precision Carbide Grinding in 1973 in Prospect Heights, IL and in 1990 relocated the company to Harlingen. In 2012 he retired from the family business. Jose loved fishing, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is remembered by his family as a very kind, generous, hard working, loving and inspiring person who always had a joke or a story to share. Jose is preceded in death by his son, Juan S. Mesa, his parents, a brother (Hector) and a sister (Alicia). Jose is survived by his loving wife, Alicia Mesa, his children, Jose “Joe” Mesa III (Lulu), and Cristela “Cris” Petykowski (Daniel), his brother (Rene) and his sister (Diana). Also surviving Jose are his grandchildren, Nicole (Nicholas) Hensley, Sean (Elizabeth) Petykowski, Alec Mesa, Michelle (Christopher) Sanders, Sara Mesa, Aaron Petykowski, Zachary Mesa, Dylan Mesa and three great grandchildren Charlotte Sanders and Caleb and Aiden Hensley. A private burial is scheduled for Monday, August 24th under the direction of Thomae Garza Funeral Home.
