Irma Z. Lopez, 74 of Laguna Heights, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020. She was born in a little town by Dr. Arroyo, NL. Irma married Jose G. Lopez and had one daughter, Mirna L. Lucio. She was a long-time resident of Port Isabel, Texas for many years. She dedicated her entire life to her family and friends. She loved spending time in her garden. She also dedicated her life to be close to God and would go to church. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and was part of many groups like the Guadalupanas, grupo de los oradores, grupo de las cobijitas, and volunteered in making tamales and help in any event at church when needed to help in the kitchen. My mom was a very special person, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, madrina, friend, and comadre. God took her too soon. She was a very dedicated wife and mother and a great and loving grandmother to my daughter, Melanie. She will be greatly missed. She loved her friends and her church friends dearly. She was a hardworking lady, she loved to be involved very much at church. She also dedicated her life to her home, family, garden, neighbors, and friends. Irma is preceded in death by her husband, Jose G. Lopez; father, Jose Zuniga Santoy; mother, Maria Guadalupe Saucedo; and siblings, Beatriz Zuniga Saucedo, Juan Antonio Zuniga, Maria Concepcion Zuniga, and Sara Zuniga Perez. She is survived by her loving daughter, Mirna L Lucio (Roy); granddaughter, Melanie Lucio; brother, Ernesto Zuniga Saucedo; and four sisters, Maria Martha Zuniga Saucedo, Amelia Zuniga Saucedo, Gloria Zuniga Castillo, and Rosa Maria Zuniga Fernandez. A visitation will begin Tuesday, August 18, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and cremation will follow. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart.
