A delicate and precious lady so was her soul and her redeemed spirit. Our beloved, Gudelia Castillo Sanchez, 86, entered into the kingdom of God on August 4, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving family in Laguna Heights, Texas. Gudelia was born on September 28, 1933 in Jalpan Queretaro, Mexico to Alberto Sanchez and Anatalia Sanchez Carranza. Gudelia was a strong woman of God, a woman of faith, and a prayer warrior. As a servant she collaborated for over 10 years at the Calvary Commission Ministry in Hidalgo, TX and Reynosa, Tamps (1980-1990). She worked in the kitchen as a cook serving over 200 people weekly. They would drive from Reynosa to Bayview on a weekly basis to serve the Lord by ministering at the Bayview Detention Center. Gudelia also served at the penitentiary center in Reynosa, Mexico known as “el penal.” Every Saturday her pastor would share God’s word and Gudelia would cook and serve food to the inmates. Gudelia also played a vital role in helping her pastor plant many churches in different “colonias” in Reynosa, Tamps. After many hard-working years, she finished her ministry as a faithful member at Maranatha Worship Center in Port Isabel, TX. Overall, her ultimate and greatest priority was instructing her family in the path of the Lord. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gregorio Castillo; her parents, Alberto Sanchez and Anatalia Sanchez Carranza; her brother Martin Sanchez; her sisters Josefina, Braulia, Jacoba, Seferina, Catalina, Paula, and Amada; and her granddaughter Karina Meza. She is survived by her 9 children: Francisca Castillo, Natalia (Rigoberto) Hernandez, Ramona Cordova, Juana (Rafael) Rodriguez, Isidoro Castillo, Rigoberto (Esmeralda) Castillo, Amado Castillo, Janie Castillo, and Sonia (Manuel) Gonzalez; 42 grandchildren: Francisca Castillo: Ana Maria, Evaristo, Maria De Los Angeles, Santos Raymundo, and Gregorio. Natalia Hernandez: Norma Alicia, Juan Carlos, Andrea, Diana Patricia, Rene Francisco, Gilberto and Lizbeth. Ramona Cordova: Claudia Gudelia, Joaquin Santos, Arnoldo Emanuel, Abigail and Alma Cristal. Juana Rodriguez: Juliana Dinora, Mario Gregorio, Felix, Rafael Jr., Vida Corazon, and Brenda Ruth. Isidoro Castillo: Cesar Humberto, Paulo Isidoro, Cynthia Celeste, Jonathan, and Leonardo. Rigoberto Castillo: Daniel Paul and Matthew. Amado Castillo: Melissa, Aaron David, Carlos Amado, and Amada Cristina. Janie Castillo: Josue Daniel, Armando Emanuel, and Miah Jahnai. Sonia Gonzalez: Alexis; 74 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren. Private visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 10:00 am at Maranatha Worship Center in Port Isabel, TX. Interment will follow at the Port Isabel Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Gregorio Meza, Gilberto Hernandez, Arnoldo Cordova, Mario Rodriguez, Leonardo Castillo, Matthew Castillo, Carlos Castillo, Felix Rodriguez, and Armando Medina.
