San Benito, TX- Eduardo Benavidez, 91, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. Eduardo was born on September 29, 1920 in San Benito, Texas. He received Official Recognition for his 20 years of federal service with International Boundary and Water Commission for the United States and Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents: Aniseto and Herlinda R. Benavidez; and brothers, Jose Guadalupe Benavidez and Aniseto Benavidez Jr. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters: Consuelo B.(Manuel +) Cruz, Maria B. (Urbano+) Quiroz, and Herlinda B. (Jose C.+) Cruz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Mass of resurrection will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at St. Ignatius Parish in El Ranchito, Texas. Committal service will follow at El Calaboz Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 43 of Brownsville, TX. Serving as pallbearers are: Armando Benavidez, Adrian Benavidez, George Quiroz, George Quiroz Jr., Jesus Benavidez, and Eduardo Benavidez.
