With humble acceptance of God's will, Maria Castillo Castro 80, entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 1, 2020, surrounded by her youngest daughters Lorena and Olivia at Harlingen Medical Center. Her five daughters are eternally grateful to God that they were allowed to say their final farewell. Maria was born on November 18, 1939, the eldest daughter of the late Pedro and Altagracia Castillo. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Catalina Castillo and Raquel Castillo Ramirez and her brother Ruben Castillo. She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her loving husband, Guadalupe Castro and her five daughters: Silvia (Siavash) Khaleghi, Christina (David) Mendez, Lisa Castro (Jesus Martinez), Lorena Castro, and Olivia Castro; five grandchildren, David Joseph and Catalina Mendez; Alec, Leily, and Nathen Khaleghi; numerous nieces and nephews and two sisters: Amparo "Amy" Vega and Rosa Castillo Flores and three brothers, Inocencio Castillo, Santiago Castillo, and Fernando Castillo all of Los Fresnos, TX. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary prayed at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. On Monday, August 10, 2020 visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary prayed at 7:00 PM at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 50% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart. A Catholic Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Brownsville, TX.
