Brigida Santillan de Cantu, 67 of Brownsville, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020. Brigida Cantu was born October 8, 1952. She was Optimistic, Strong, Courageous and a fighter till the end. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Brigida faithfully cared for family and friends through constant giving and selflessness leaving us an example of what a true servant for the Lord should be. Truly she will be missed by many but will remain in our hearts forever. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Nicolas Santillan, Maria Santillan, Jose Santillan, Emilia Guel, Cruz Melendez, and Rumalda Martinez. Brigida is survived by her husband, David Cantu; children, Oseas Cantu, David Cantu Jr., Elisa Camacho, Edna Cantu, and Eli S. Cantu; grandchildren, Ashley Cantu, David G. Cantu, Marcos Cantu, Brandon M. Cantu, Jezreel Cantu and Harmony Joy Cantu, Nathan Elijah Camacho, Jacob Isiah Camacho, and Dominic Josiah Camacho; siblings, Enrique Santillan, Lalo Santillan, Martin Santillan, Angel Santillan, Laura Santillan, and Esther Santillan. Visitation will begin Wednesday, July 29, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at San Benito Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
