Edward Jesus Chavez (Jesse), 68 of Albuquerque, New Mexico San Jose, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Jesse resided in the Port Isabel/Los Fresnos area for 49 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He cherished and loved his family very much. Jesse served 19 years in the United Stated Coast Guard. He retired from USCG on May 30, 1989. After he retired, he worked mainly in construction and did a little of plumbing and electrician work as well. He was a jack of all trades. In his early years he enjoyed dancing and playing basketball. He loved to play pool, BBQ, drink with his friends, and swim. He always had a pool at his house. He also enjoyed helping and doing remodeling work at the American Legion Post 498. In his later years, he liked being at his house and driving his riding mower around the yard. (Esmer) Chavez; and daughter, Mary F. (Gustavo) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Jessica M. Chavez (Jonathan), Frances R. (Jezrel) Garcia, Kacey (Jeremiah) Hyde, Gustavo H. Gonzalez Jr., Edward S. Gonzalez, Humberto D. Gonzalez, and Brielle E. Gonzalez; great grandchild, Briar R. Garcia; and sisters, Geneva G. Chavez and Christine M. Gurule; and brother, Joseph L. Chavez. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday October 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church 705 S Longoria St, Port Isabel, TX 78578.
