God shall wipe all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. - Revelation 21:4 On Saturday, July 4, 2020, Maria Guadalupe “Lupita” Gonzalez passed away peacefully in her sleep at 84 years old. A lifelong Texas native, Lupita, was well-loved and known. Her love for music and dancing made her a joy to be around. Her laughter and sense of humor were irresistible. Despite her large family, Lupita’s love was always given unconditionally to family, friends, and strangers. She always provided support and love for them. She and her husband, Pedro, worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their family and instilled work ethics to their children. They also stressed the importance of education. She, until her last breath, remained proud of her children and grandchildren. Lupita was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, and by her son, Paul. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Jose Noyola Guerrero and Silveria Patlan Mata; brothers, Francisco Noyola and Fortino Noyola; husband, Pedro Gonzalez, and son, Paul Gonzalez. Maria is survived by her children, Pedro Gonzalez, Joseph Gonzalez, Jesse Gonzalez, and Dahlia Garcia; siblings, Sylvester Noyola, Chavelo Noyola, Jose Noyola, Josie Stout, Elia Noyola, and Jessie Noyola: grandchildren; Christopher Gonzalez, Crystal Arias, Olivia Caswell, Audrey Gonzalez, Josie Moreno, Emily Moreno, Jaylyn Gonzalez, Jessie Gonzalez, Jessica Gonzalez, and Justin Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Amiah, Matthew, Zachary, Sofia, Gabriel, Natalie, Malia, Aiden, Madelyn, Jeremiah, and Karina; as well as numerous other relatives. Visitation will begin Thursday, July 9, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2020, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart.
