Obituary of Reynaldo G. Sauceda
Please share a memory of Reynaldo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Reynaldo “Rey” G. Sauceda, 73, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at his residence.
Reynaldo Sauceda was born in San Benito, Texas on October 17, 1946. He was born to Bernardo and Eloisa Sauceda. Along with his 8 siblings, Rey grew up humbly in a small house in the neighborhood, La Palma.
Rey then went on to join the army where he proudly served 5 years and relocated to residing in Illinois. There is where he met his beautiful bride, Virginia, and they married in 1970. He started his family there and soon moved to Pasadena, Tx where he continued adding to his family. He worked for several years in Pasadena, as an operating engineer for Mobile Mining Minerals, always with the main purpose to make sure he provided for his family.
In 1994, Rey moved his family back to San Benito where he worked side by side at his brother’s business at Sauceda’s Precision Grinding. He worked here until retiring and then began his favorite job as the best Grandpa, husband, and father. He spent his days making sure the fridge had snacks every time his grandkids came over, along with a new riddle or magic trick to show them. One thing he always made sure of was that his wife had yellow roses every year for her birthday and anniversary. He made sure his kids even as adults always had everything they needed.
Rey loved having family gatherings, playing the lottery, making conversation with strangers, and just sharing his wisdom on his journey of life. Anyone who met Rey, knew he was the person who’d go out of his way to help you even if it meant giving you the shirt on his back. He had to be the most humble and kind man you’d ever meet.
In 2017, Rey’s health begin to decline but he fought hard for 2 ½ years and we are so grateful even through the ups and downs, for the extra time we got with him.
On March 29th, Rey was called home where his final day was spent peacefully with his wife and kids. He will be dearly missed. Although we are deeply grieving, he always taught us laughter can help with grief. With that, we know he is watching down on us until he can make us laugh once again.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardo Sauceda, Sr. and Eloisa Garza Sauceda; two siblings: Bernardo Sauceda, Jr. and Robert Sauceda.
Rey is survived by his wife Virginia H. Sauceda; four children: Peter (Angie) Sauceda, Benita Sauceda, Amanda (Javier) Salazar, and Rey (Erika) Sauceda; nine grandchildren: Michael Anthony Sauceda, Marissa Ashley Sauceda, Jonathan Rey Sauceda, Jaydon Rey Alonzo, Israel Rey Macias, Robert Eli Vargas, Carlos Anthony Vargas, Jayleen Madison Ramirez, and Reynaldo John Vargas; six siblings: Maria Alicia Mesa, Maria Angelina Gonzales, Gloria Gaona, Janie Garza, Estella Gonzales, and Juan Sauceda; and one great-grandson, Michael Ashton Sauceda.
