Maria Barbara Martinez, 95, went to meet her Savior on March 22, 2012. Maria was born on December 4, 1916 in San Ignacio, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of San Benito, Texas and for the last four years resided in Uvalde, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Maria Martinez; brothers and sister: Refugio (Dora) Martinez, Abraham (Maria) Martinez, Ramon A. (Elva) Martinez, and Emilia (Guadalupe) De Los Santos. Surviving her are her brother and sister, Noe (Juanita) Martinez of Uvalde, Texas and Alicia (Lauro) Benavidez of Lubbock, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Mass of resurrection will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in San Benito. Committal service will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
