Esteban Garza Jr., 67, late resident of Rio Hondo, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 in Brownsville, Texas. He was honorably discharged from US Army Veteran after serving in the Vietnam War, and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Rifle Award, a Good Conduct Medal Clasp, and a Bronze 1 Loop while serving in the 1st Calvary Division. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esteban Sr and Sara Robledo Garza; one sister, Dalia Garza; and two brothers: Alejandro and Abram Garza. Surviving Esteban is his wife Rosario Gonzalez de Garza; two daughters: Estrella Garza and Rubi Garza Salazar; two sons: Esteban Garza III and Christian Garza; 6 grandchildren; and 12 brothers and sisters: Connie Aragon, Yolanda Bengal, “Commissioner” Alonzo Garza, Pedro Garza, Andres Garza, Ismael Garza, Daniel Garza, Ernestina Womack, Carolina Garcia, Sandra Heredia, Ruben Garza, and Alfredo Garza. Visitation will begin Friday, February 21, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Asamblea De Dios located on 500 Harrolds Street in Rio Hondo, Texas with Pastor Eddie De La Rosa officiating and burial will follow at Rio Hondo Community Cemetery.
