Sellersburg, Indiana/ San Benito, Texas- Carlota Ball went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the age of 85 in Clarksville, Indiana. She was born March 7, 1927 in Brownsville, Texas to Eduardo and Paulita Tamayo Gallardo. Carlota worshipped as a member of Primera Iglesia Apostolica in San Benito, TX since 1955 and served in many capacities in the church. Her passion in life was her church and her family. Carlota spent the eight last years of her life at Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg, IN near her daughter. Shortly after moving there, she started telling people that she was the "Yellow Rose of Texas"; and that is how a lot of people knew her. She loved to make the staff at Maple Manor laugh. She loved playing bingo and attending Bible Study daily. She was very much a "people person". Her way of saying goodbye was always "Dios lo bendiga" and "Pray for all of us". Carlota was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Ball; son; Joe Ball, Jr.; brothers: Eduardo Gallardo, Jr., Pedro Gallardo, Guadalupe Gallardo and Silvestre Gallardo; sisters: Virginia Nunez and Mary Lou Bennett. Surviving her are: her son, Joel (Alex) Ball of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughter, Tillie (Mark) Cox of Otisco, Indiana; brothers, Antonio Gallardo and Emilio (Celia) Gallardo; sisters: Celia (Daniel) Bennett, Angie (Rodolfo) Trevino, and Teresa Gallardo; grandchildren: Marc Christopher Cisneros, Joel Ball Jr., Brandon Cox, and Isaiah Cox; and great grandson, Brennan Charles Ball. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 10:00 am at Primera Iglesia Apostolica located on 443 Julian St. in San Benito. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Joel Ball Jr, Marc Cisneros, Daniel Bennett, Rodolfo Trevino, Marc Gallardo and Roland Vasquez.
