Esmerlinda "Melly" Delgadillo, 60, of Port Isabel, Texas, entered into eternal rest on March 7, 2012 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. "Melly" as she was known, was born and raised in Port Isabel. She was a lifelong resident and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, attending family gatherings, and going to the maquinitas. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed Elvis Presley memorabilia. She is preceded in death by her father, Antonio Rivera; her sister, Maria Rivera; her maternal grandmother, Rita Martinez; and mother-in-law, Paula Delgadillo. Melly is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Juan Delgadillo of Port Isabel; her children: Andy (Yolanda) Delgadillo, Alice (Dante) Reyes, Mark (Jessica Gonzales) Delgadillo, all of Port Isabel, and Juan (Tomasita) Delgadillo Jr, of San Benito; her mother, Anselma Gonzalez Rivera; six grandchildren: Juan Delgadillo III, Ashley Marie Delgadillo, Joshua Lee Delgadillo, Andrea Nicole Delgadillo, Allyson Deony Reyes, and Dontey Dacoda Reyes; 2 great-grandchildren, Jezalee Rae and Joziah Jay Delgadillo. She is also survived by her sisters, Esmeralda Medrano Rivera and Edna Angelina Torres, and brother, Jose Enrique Gonzalez. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm, at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 8:30 am to 10:00 am, with Mass of resurrection to begin at 10:00 am, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located on 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel. Committal service will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Joe Gonzalez, Dante Delgadillo, Ray Rios III, Luis Rios, Raymundo Rios, Juan Delgadillo III, Gustavo Sanchez, and Armando Mora.
