Obituary of Rufina M. Alvarado

Rufina M. Alvarado, 93 of San Benito, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 she was a life long resident of San Benito, Tx.

She was a member of the Vela Perpetua of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.  They would call her to make her famous menudo for the carmesa, and she would never say no. She was always ready to help her community in whatever was needed.  Whenever she knew that someone was ill in the Barrio, El Jardin, there goes mom with her famous atolito with crackers so that they would get better.  She loved to socialize with family and friends, loved to dance, listen to her Tejano music and just have a good time with her family. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother.

Rufina is preceded in death by her parents, Isidro Marquez and Lucinda Alfaro Marquez; her loving husband, Alberto Alvarado Sr.; sons, Alberto Alvarado Jr.; Enrique Alvarado, Armando Alvarado, and two stillborn children; her grandson, Greg Zavala; brothers, Adegundo, Alfredo, Estevan, Natalio, Reynaldo, and Chepe Marquez; and sisters, Jesucita Guerrero and Dominga Ybarra.

She is survived by her daughters, Otilia (Saul) Alonzo, Susana (Ramiro) Resendez, Juanita (Cesario) Zavala, Teresa (Joe) Camacho, and Maria (Jaime+) Salinas; sons, Cesario (Cindy) Alvarado, Domingo (Amira) Alvarado, Jose Alvarado, and Sylvestre Alvarado; her sister, Francisca Sparta; 25 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will begin Friday, October 25, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
