Obituary of James Robert Montelongo Sr.

James Robert “Jimmy” Montelongo Sr., 77, of Port Isabel/South Padre Island, Texas, entered into rest on Thursday, July 11, 2019.

He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Anna M. Bailey; his parents, Estevan Jr. and Arcelia Ochoa Montelongo; three brothers, Thomas “Tommy” Montelongo, Adolfo Gonzalez and Benito Gonzalez Jr.; and one sister, Amalia Rudd-Graham.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, James Robert “Jimmy” Montelongo Jr., Anjanette (Guy) Tooke, Jennifer Montelongo, and Johanna Montelongo; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; two sisters, Alicia Gonzalez and Abigail Moncevaiz; and four brothers, Raul Gonzalez, Ruben Gonzalez, Arturo Gonzalez, and Miguel Gonzalez.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, from 2 pm to 4 pm at Thomae- Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continue from 6 pm to 9 pm, with a holy rosary at 7 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located on 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel, Texas.

Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at 10 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Committal service will follow at Port Isabel Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are: Guy Tooke, Morris Murphy, Rory Tooke, Tommy Montelongo Jr., Bobby Garza, and Luis Ortiz.
