Obituary of Efren Alvarez Fernandez

Efren Alvarez Fernandez, 55, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.

Efren was a resident of Port Isabel, Texas and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He worked for Public Works as a maintenance worker in South Padre Island and Port Isabel. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Alvarez Ramos.

Surviving him is his wife, Maria M. Castillo Rios; his special friend, Julia Luna Garcia; two daughters: Ericka Yanelly Alvarez-Badillo and Amelie De Carmen Alvarez-Badillo; three grandchildren; his mother, Amelia Fernandez Cordova; two sisters: six brothers; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Visitation will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located on 705 S. Longoria Street in Port Isabel, Texas.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
