Obituary of Samuel Lopez

Samuel Lopez, 67, of Rio Hondo, Texas passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019, in Harlingen, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel A. and Guadalupe R. Lopez; son, Samuel Lopez Jr.; siblings, Flora Gutierrez, Ester Gutierrez, and Carmen “Freddy” Lopez; and granddaughter, Jasmine Venegas.

Samuel is survived by his wife, Dora Gamez; children, Shelly Lopez, Erica V. (Arturo) Lopez, Samantha (Ernesto) Sustaita, Dora Lee (Valentin) Lopez, Tanya (Cruz) Vasquez, Saul (Selena) Lopez, Sammy Lopez, Sylvia Lopez, and Samuel C. Lopez; 34 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and siblings, Robert (Alicia) Lopez, Manuel (Yolanda) Lopez Jr., Fela Lopez, and Elizabeth Flores.

Visitation will begin Thursday, April 11, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

A chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with interment to follow at Rio Hondo Community Cemetery in Rio Hondo, Texas. With military honors under the auspices of VFW Post 2035 of Brownsville, TX
