My grandpa Harold's passing was 3 year's ago and not a day has gone by that I don't think about this man. I spent countless days of my childhood at his and my Grandma Darlenes' home in Texas, and I have hundreds of memories and lessons I learned over the years listening to him while he drank his "Pepsi" and watched NASCAR. All my elders tell me he was a hard-working man his whole life and did everything he could to help someone out. I remember him as a jokester, a collector of coins and 1930's toy cars, a man who loved the open road, and a fun person to be around no matter the occasion. He could sit and talk to one of his friends or brothers on the house phone for hours, just as long as it wasn't during a race. My condolences to all family and friends of Harold D. Rahr, I know he is still missed by many. I was blessed to get to know him over the first 18 years of my life, may he rest in peace.

Harold was one of the very first guys I met when I joined Customs, Baltimore, MD in 1975. Harold was a sort of Gunga Din type of person, by that I mean he was loyal to the core. If he said it he meant and believed it to be true, you could count of Harold. Everyone I knew liked Harold, a good man, a very rare commodity in today's world. Darlene, I'm so sorry about Hooper. When Bob Porter called me with the news, I was very surprised. I always thought of Hooper as one of those men who would live a long time...with whom you'd want to have a cerveza or two and talk about old times in Customs. There are never the right words to express sympathy, but I'm sure that everyone in Customs--especially, Bob Porter--and the others who knew Hooper so well, will always remember him. I will always count Harold as one of my best friends. I have hundreds of memories of Harold and they are all good. During our years together in Maryland Harold was like a brother to me. I will forever be indebited to him for all that he did for me. I don't believe that I ever knew anyone with as wonderful a personality as Harold's. He was loved by all that knew him. He will truely be missed. I extend my deepest sympathies to Darlene and the rest of his family.
