Obituary of Maria Trinidad Cuevas
Maria Trinidad Cuevas, 72, of Port Isabel, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Trine was a dedicated and supportive wife, a loving mother, a caring grandmother, the best sister and friend she could be. She was a well-known business owner in the community alongside her husband Jose. In her extra time she loved to get away to visit her grandchildren in San Antonio to support their collegiate efforts, cheer on youth sporting events, and of course her favorite, shopping. She always found a way and did whatever she could to never miss an event. She gave her infinite love and support to all her grandchildren for all they did. She did everything in her power to do all she could for them, and everyone else. Trine’s hobbies included cooking, collecting books, gardening in her yard, and finding the greatest deals in stores. Her daily routine was mandatory to a cup of coffee and fresh pastries from Reyes’ Bakery. She will always be remembered as a selfless woman who even in the toughest times would have a smile. She had a subtle-strength to her character, presenting blunt opinions and facts when she had to. She always made the ultimate sacrifices for the good of her family. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Inez Cuevas Martinez; her father, Miguel Garcia; mother, Angelita Martinez; and brother, Francisco Castellanos.
Trinidad is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jose G. Cuevas Sr. of Port Isabel; her loving children, Jimmy Cisneros of Houston, Jose (Violeta) Cuevas Jr. of Port Isabel, Edward (Lucy) Cuevas of Port Isabel, and Lisa Cuevas of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Isabel Herrera, Olga Sandoval, and Pura Mireles; 1 brother, Porfirio Cantu; mother-in-law, Guadalupe Espinoza; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will begin held on Friday, January 18, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Texas.
