Obituary of Ida G. Gonzalez

Ida G. Gonzalez, 72, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at her residence in San Benito.

It is the honor of your grandchildren to write this obituary to our beloved grandmother, Ida.

A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me, the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived while I was strong. You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived.

Your whole-hearted rebuke always lead to your whole-hearted advice. You left us with riches, not in the way man sees it but in the way GOD sees it, with unity, hope, faith, family, and perfect love.

Now the time has come for you to rest. So, go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep. Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep. The most wonderful gift you leave behind is a piece of you lives in each and every one of us. You will be loved forever and always.

Ida is preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Elena Guerra; son, Jose Humberto Gonzalez; and daughter, Susana Gonzalez.

She is survived by her loving children, Juan Louis Valdes, Jose Alfredo Valdez, Maria Lynn Gonzalez, Susan Valdez, Cynthia Xochitl Gonzalez, Victor Mauricio Gonzalez, and Robert William Gonzalez; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-great grandchildren; her father, Higinio Guerra; siblings, Juanita Cruz, Oscar Guerra, Jose Luis Guerra, Antonio Guerra, Guillermina Raymond, Noel Guerra, Adio Guerra, Dora Valadez, and Blanca Ortega.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

Chapel service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Las Rusias Cemetery in Las Rusias, Texas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Juan Valdes, Alfredo Valdes, Victor Gonzalez, Robert Gonzalez, Aaron Garcia, Eluterio Aguilar Jr., and Julio Maciel.
