Obituary of Abelardo G. Longoria

Abelardo G. Longoria, 80, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018, in Edinburg, Texas.

He served our country with the U.S. Army and 10 years with the U.S. Army Reserves.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Leoncio and Estefana Longoria; brother: Jesus Longoria as well as one sister Consuelo L. Sanchez.

Abelardo is survived by his children: Juanita Alaniz, Gloria Longoria, Leoncio (Clarice) Longoria, Marco Antonio Longoria and Marco Miguel Longoria, as well as 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Delia (Ramon) Morado, Benjamin Longoria, Leonel Longoria, Juan Longoria, Jose Luis Longoria, Baldemar Longoria, and Robert Longoria.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

Military honors will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. by VFW Post 2035 with Commander Luis Lucio at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

Funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. In accordance to his wishes, cremation will follow.
