Obituary of Daniel Acosta Nieto

Daniel Acosta Nieto, 70, of Van Horn/ Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 in Van Horn, Texas.

Daniel served two tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He retired after 26 years of employment with AT&T.  

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Luis and Jesusa Acosta Nieto; two sisters: Fausta Martha Ortiz and Lily Nieto; and two brothers, Angel Ramiro Nieto and Ramon Nieto.

Surviving him are two sisters, Victoria Alvarez and Jesusa Pena; one brother, Luis Nieto Jr; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, Texas. Full military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 2035 following the mass. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 S. Inspiration Road in Mission, Texas.
