Obituary of Juan Torres

Juan Torres, 69, of Weslaco passed to eternal Life in January of 2018, in Harlingen.

He was born in Progresso, TX on June 24th in 1948 to Julia and Florentino Torres originally of Doctor Arroyo, Nuevo Leon.

His father Florentino preceded him in death in 1956.

 He is survived by his four children-- Raquela, Father Tino, Julio and Steven--and 5 grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory are his mother and 5 sisters, Connie, Teresa, Annie, Mona and Rosie with their families and children.

Juan served his country as a U.S. Marine from 1968 to 1970 attaining the rank of Corporal. He continued to fight against injustice on many fronts- especially for veterans and farm workers. He was a man that was greater than himself. He gave hope to the hopeless and lived with the people he served.

 A viewing will Monday January 29th at Thomae-Garza Funeral home in San Benito, TX 2pm-8pm.

 A funeral mass will be celebrated by his son at St Martin de Porres, Weslaco, TX at 9 am on Tuesday January 30 followed by his burial at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery at 11 am in Mission.
