San Benito, Texas- Ruben Lozoya Torres III, 23, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. He attended high school in Los Fresnos and Texas Tech College in Brownsville. He was employed by Texas Roadhouse and a member of Family Apostolic Worship Center of Harlingen. Ruben was a wonderful person who enjoyed being outdoors. He loved being around family and spending time with his children. We will greatly miss him! He is preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Ruben Torres Sr. He is survived by his wife, Elisa Tapia of Harlingen, Texas; two sons, Johnny Torres of San Benito and Jeremiah Torres of Harlingen; his parents, Ruben and Linda Lozoya Torres Jr.; his brother Gino Torres, and sister Julie Ann Torres, all of San Benito, Texas. He is also survived by his half brother Jesse James, maternal grandparents, Ruben and Oralia Lozoya, and paternal grandmother Bea Torres, all of Harlingen, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 12:00 noon to 9:00 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:00 am at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park in La Feria. Serving as pallbearers are: Gino Torres, Ruben Lozoya Jr., Juan Vargas, Pete Lozoya Jr., Kristian Martinez, Ruben Torres, Angel Cardenas, and Troy Vasquez.
