Obituary of Cayetano Gonzalez Jr
Cayetano Gonzalez Jr, 77, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.
Cayetano was a born and raised lifetime resident of Port Isabel. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He retired on May 13, 2010 after 30 and a half years of dedicated service to the City of Port Isabel. Cayetano, through his service to others by his dedication and his involvement with The Senior Citizens, earned him the love and respect of city officials, city employees, and the afection of a host of area residents who were proud to call him a friend. Cayetano was a huge fan of the Port Isabel Tarpons and San Antonio Spurs. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatriz Guerra Gonzalez; one son, Hector Gonzalez; grandson, Spencer Ryan Gonzalez; his parents: Cayetano Sr. and Rita Garcia Gonzalez; two sisters: Estella Castillo and Rita De La Garza; and three brothers: Fred Gonzalez, Jesus Gonzalez, and Francisco Gonzalez.
Left to cherish his memories are his three sons: Carlos Gonzalez, Miguel Angel (Maria de los Angeles) Gonzalez, and Gustavo (Pam) Gonzalez; four grandchildren: Samantha Cortez-Adney, Sebastian Gonzalez, Jager Gonzalez, Elyas Gonzalez; three great-grandchildren: Annabella Adney, Austin Adney, and Alexander Adney; six brothers: Carlos “Chale” Gonzalez, Abelardo “Lalo” Gonzalez, Joe Gonzalez, Juan “Johnny” Gonzalez, Arnulfo Gonzalez, and Anselmo Gonzalez; three sisters: Reyes Salinas, Evangelina Barrera, and America Lopez; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located on 705 S. Longoria Street in Port Isabel, Texas.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Cremation will follow in accordance to his wishes.
