Obituary of Pedro Garcia Jr
Captain Pedro “Pete” Garcia Jr. of Port Isabel, TX passed away on Tuesday December 12, 2017 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, TX.
Pete was born July 18, 1948 in Port Isabel. TX to Eulalia Garcia. He attended Port Isabel High School and proceeded to work for Marine Mart as a shrimper, where he quickly became Captain for 30 years. He later obtained his 100 Ton Captains License, and worked at Ryan Marine Services in Galveston, TX for 15 years. His pride and joy were his grandchildren.
Pete is survived by his wife of 44 years, Maria “Lulu” Garcia of Port Isabel; Daughter Sandra Garcia, Daughter Georgina L. Garcia(Ricardo), Son Pedro Garcia III (Delia), Son Armando Garcia(Sarah), and Thomas Garcia; thirteen grandchildren: Mercedes, Cesar, Peter, Sayra, Brianna, Tristian, Andrea, Catalina, Thomas Jr., Arianna, Jimmy, Avery, and Matteo; two great grandchildren, Kimberly and Kody; two Sisters Andrea Garcia of Port Isabel and Inez Nino of Bayview; one Brother Armando Garcia(Sharon) of Richland Hills, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is in proceeded in death by his Sister Alicia Rios, Mother in Law Catarina P. Galvan, and Mother Eulalia Garcia.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel, Texas.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Cremation will follow in accordance to his wishes.
Pallbearers are Pedro Garcia III, Armando Garcia, Thomas Garcia, Pedro Garcia IV, Cesar Manzano, Thakur Jee, Sidney Mock Jr., and Jeremiah Nino.
Honorary Pallbearers include Tristian Garcia, Thomas Garcia Jr., Matteo Arenas, Kody Ryan, Jimmy Garcia, Johnny Joe Zamora, Moises Galvan, Melvin Perez, Juan Sanchez, Juan Antonio Ortiz, and Ricardo Arenas.
