Jose “Joe” Juan Pitones, 83 years old, was born in, Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. Jose went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 30, 2017, after a period of illness.
Jose is preceded in death by his father, Trinidad Pitones, mother Rosa Maria Pitones Segura, brothers Jesus Pitones, Federico Pitones, Feliz Pitones and his sister, Consuelo Pitones Lopez. He is survived by his wife, Maria Juana Pitones, son Reynaldo Pitones (Janie), daughter Rosie Pitones-Dunasky (Jeff) and adopted son Eben Norman (Rosemarie).
He leaves behind grandchildren, Kesley Betancourt, Keyanna Betancourt, Kaylene Betancourt, Ashley Pitones (4), Ansley Pitones (Phillip) (3), Eli Pitones (3), Catalina Dunasky, Jeffrey Dunasky Jr., Christianna Dunasky and Joseph Dunasky.
Jose spent his years doing what he loved, farming. To a certain extent, staying busy and working were his hobbies. He was a hard-working man who came to the United States in 1956 under the Bracero Program of 1942. He was grateful to have the opportunity to work hard for the American Dream and did so until he retired from farming in 1995. His passion for working and achievement was second to his absolute love for his grandchildren and of course…pets. Oh, how he loved animals.
To the community in and around Rio Hondo, our family extends to you a heartfelt appreciation for the friendship, kindness and love you showed our father throughout his life, but especially during the last few years and months of his life. All the acts of kindness and visits you paid to ensure he knew he was loved means the world to us. We are filled with gratitude with all the people that paid a visit to him while he was in the hospital. Your conversations made him smile and brightened his days. A special word of gratitude to our friends who played the role of extended family in helping to care and look after Jose. We love you and thank you: Eben & Rosemarie, Gerald & Diane Gusler, Grebil & Natalie Oyuela, and Berta & Trinidad Galvan.
