Obituary of Eugene Blankenship
2 Timothy 4 (KJV) 1-6
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 8 Hence forth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Eugene Blankenship, 75, finished the fight of faith and peacefully entered Heavens gates Oct 26, 2017. He was born to Clyde and Maggie Blankenship in “Christmasville”, Trezevant, TN December 19, 1941. Eugene had one brother, Virgil.
Shortly after graduating from Atwood TN high school Eugene would marry his sweetheart Peggy to whom he would share 55 years of marriage. To them were born two sons, Dennis and Kenneth. Eugene worked a short time in various jobs but soon after he began his family he felt the call of God on his life. He surrendered to that call and spent nearly 50 years in the ministry devoted to serving others. That ministry led him from border to border and coast to coast sharing the gospel. He preached in brush arbors, tents, camp meeting, court squares and from boats. Never ashamed to share what God and Jesus had done for him and what God could do for others. His ministry included pastoring 8 churches, leading many revivals, camp meeting and visiting numerous mission fields.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, wife Peggy and his son Dennis.
Eugene is survived by his son Kenneth and Alicia Blankenship, Los Fresnos TX and 3 granddaughters and 3 great grandsons.
