Obituary of Robert Kevin Curtin

Robert Kevin Curtin, 66, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 in South Padre Island, Texas.

Kevin was born November 15, 1950 and passed away on August 5, 2017.  Kevin was a member of Chapel by the Sea in South Padre Island, Texas and was chaplain at The American Legion in Port Isabel, Texas.  He served in the United States Navy.  He was an avid lover of singing and music and was an advocate for disabled veterans and education.  He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Marcus Curtin; his mother, Jo Griffith Curtin, and two brothers.

Kevin is survived by his daughter and only child, Julianne Hopkins; sister, Kelly Minor and husband Joe and their children, Chris and Alicia Minor; sister, Traci Brockway and children, Shayla Mercer, Robin Williams, and Chad Bohannon; brother, Tim Curtin and wife Sandy and their sons Tim, Matt, Marcus, and Skyler; grandchildren, Kenzie Robertson, Madison Woods, and Austin Hale.

Funeral service will be begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Thomae Garza Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Steel officiating.  Funeral procession will depart at 12 noon for a graveside service with military honors scheduled for 1 pm at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, TX.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the American Legion, 819 S. Garcia Street in Port Isabel, Texas at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
