Modesto Rivera, 88, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in Olmito, Texas. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maria Del Refugio Rivera; his grandson, Sergio Silva; and his son-in-law, Eloy Gonzales. Modesto is survived by his children: Hilda (Apolinar) Silva, Alberto (Maria Isabel) Rivera, Herminia Gonzales, Modesto Rivera Jr., Armando (Irma Delgado) Rivera, Cynthia (Leonardo) Silva, Noami Rivera, and Rafael (Sandra Lopez) Rivera; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and will continue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located on 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel, Texas. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Cremation will follow in accordance to his wishes.
