Delia Garcia 88, of San Benito, entered into rest Monday, March 6, 2017. Her father, Porfirio Garcia and her mother, Arminda George Garcia, precede her in death. Delia was born on October 19, 1928 in Carricitos, Texas to Porfirio and Arminda Garcia. She loved the outdoors and shared her skills for fishing, hunting and shooting with her brother, nieces, nephews, and even her grand nieces and nephews. She was an avid reader and had a talent for photography, and photographed everything from flowers to family. Delia’s passion was tinkering and fixing anything, and therefore sparked her lifelong career at Brownsville Hardware. She was a tough, hardworking, and no nonsense kind of woman, who took pride in making Brownsville Hardware flourish. Delia was a woman with deep roots in family, as she devoted much of her love and time with us all. Her family and friends will truly miss her. Delia is survived by her sister, Viola (Abelardo +) Cantu, her brother, Humberto S.(Lana) Garcia, nephew, Edward Rene(Pam) Cantu, niece, Cynthia Yvonne (Beau) Chambo, Arminda (Eliud) Plata, Diane Liz (David) De La Rosa, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Visitation will be held from 1-8 pm at San Benito Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Funeral procession will start at 12 noon at Thomae Garza Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, 2017, with a graveside service following at Las Rucias Cemetery.
