San Benito, TX – Maria Ofelia Galvan, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 3, 2017 in Harlingen, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 11, 1944 in San Benito,TX she was loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents George Esteban and Josefina Vela Villarreal and her siblings; Esteban, Jose Rene, Herman Villarreal and her sister Maria Olga Garcia. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Jose Ignacio Galvan Jr., Esteban Galvan, Raymond (Esmeralda) Galvan, Estella Galvan (Clemente Cantu), Sylvia (Ruben) Gonzales and Nancy Garza. She is also survived by her siblings, Israel (Lupita) Villarreal, Diana (Oscar) Botello and Minerva (Rey) Garcia as well as her grandchildren, Joe Steven, Michael, Daniel and Esteban Jr., Valeria, Tanya and Raymond Galvan Jr., Frank Garza, Justin Salazar, Jackie, Katie and Ruben Jacob Gonzales, Karina, Dylan Aidan and Sabastian Garza as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7PM at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Chapel Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10AM at Thomae Garza Funeral Directors with cremation to follow in accordance with her wishes.
