Mary Alice Garza Bernal, 90, of George West, Texas, passed away in Harlingen, Texas on December 9, 2016. Our mom worked her fingers to the bone excelling as a homemaker and later professional sales person for major retail stores in San Antonio. She could sing a tender Elvis Presley song, dance a cool cha cha cha, tend her roses and still create beautiful meals especially desserts and Mexican food! Bless our Mama's big heart! Preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Leopoldo Garza; her brother, Pablo Garza; and her former spouses Juan D. Bernal, and Arcadia DeCarrier. She is survived by her loving children, Betty Joyce DeCarriere, and Gloria Bernal Guinn (spouse, Russell); her beloved brother Frank Garza, (spouse, Ophelia); and their children, Rosie and Butch; and her beloved brother, Gilbert Garza. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 4 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at St Benedict Catholic Church with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
