Guadalupe Alfaro entered eternal life on Friday, December 2, 2016. Born in Rio Hondo, TX, she is the daughter of Florencio Alfaro and the late Fausta Alfaro. She attended Rio Hondo High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from University of Texas at Brownsville. She was employed at Rio Hondo ISD and worked as a Paraprofessional for 16 years. She was a member of St. Helens Catholic Church where she was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She is preceded in death by her mother, Fausta Alfaro; and daughter in law, Afton Ponce. Guadalupe is survived by her children: Serena Ponce (Arnulfo Torres), Luis Adan (Kristy) Ponce, and Andres (Afton) Ponce; her grandchildren Desirae Ponce, Albani Hernandez, Noah Hernandez, Landen Ponce, Elek Hernandez, Maverick Thorton-King, Luke Ponce and Xavier Ponce; her siblings: Guadalupe Ogg, Florencio Alfaro Jr., David Alfaro Sr., Juanita Jimenez, and Noe Alfaro Sr. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Rio Hondo, Texas. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park. Honored to serve as pallbearers are her sons: Retired Sgt. Luis Adan Ponce and Tech, Sgt. Andres Xavier Ponce, Arnulfo Torres, Noe Alfaro Jr., David Alfaro Jr., and Carl Smith.
